What is the Worldwide Web?

A system of Internet(web) servers that support specially formatted documents. The documents are formatted in a markup language called HTML (HyperText Markup Language) that supports links to other documents, as well as graphics, audio, and video files. This means you can jump from one document to another simply by clicking on hot spots(links). Not all Internet servers are part of the World Wide Web. There are several applications called Web browsers that make it easy to access the World Wide Web; Two of the most popular being Netscape Navigator and Microsoft's Internet Explorer.

What is the Internet?

Much is being said about the Internet and the vast opportunities it provides to send and receive information around the world. If you are new to the Internet and you don't have much computer experience, it may take some practice to become proficient.

The Internet is basically a vast network of computers connected together via satellite and telephone data transmission lines spanning the globe. By using a modem connection to a local service provider, a user can send or receive messages, gather information, and even listen to audio programs, all online!

Unlike online services, which are centrally controlled, the Internet is decentralized by design. Each Internet computer, called a host, is independent. Its operators can choose which Internet services to use and which local services to make available to the global Internet community. Remarkably, this anarchy by design works exceedingly well.

There are a variety of ways to access the Internet. Most online services offer access to some Internet services. It is also possible to gain access through a commercial Internet Service Provider (ISP).

By God's grace, Family Radio can now broadcast its "Christ-centered" broadcasts over the Internet 24 hours a day in 15 different languages and provide literature (text) as well.
