Q: "Why can't I reach 'www.familyradio.com' from school?"
- Many school and public libraries restrict students to certain educational websites while blocking the rest of the internet. unfortunately, Family Radio sometimes falls under the restricted category, many times, by accident. to reach Family Radio, try contacting your school webmaster and asking him/her to add 'www.familyradio.com' to the list of acceptable web sites.Q: "Can I find Family Radio on a search engine?"
- Yes, you can find Family Radio on most major search engines by typing 'familyradio' (all one word-lowercase) in the search box.Q: "Why is your website unavailable at times?"
-The Internet is basically a world-wide network of computers connected together in a 'web' of satellite, telephone, and data connections. at times, part of that 'web' will be temporarily disconnected due to heavy traffic or local disruptions. web sites located on the one side of such temporary blockages will be unavailable to users on the other side. the best solution is to try accessing them at another time.Q: "Can I use Internet e-mail devices like 'audrey' to hear Family Radio on the Internet?"
- No, Internet e-mail devices are designed only to access and send e-mail and are not equipped for audio files or web browsing. in order to listen to Family Radio on the web, you will need a regular computer.Q: "I use WebTV. can I download audio programs and listen to them offline?"
- Unfortunately, WebTV has no place to store audio files offline for later perusal. in order to save files for later use, you must have a storage drive or hard drive. at this time, only regular computers or laptop computers have this storage capability.Q: "Why does it seem you are constantly changing your web site?"
- Family Radio is currently in the process of updating its entire web site. our Internet staff is redesiging each section, one at a time, and updating them as they become available. it may seem like constant change, but when it is finished, we feel the entire web site will be much more efficient and user friendly for our web users to navigate.Q: "If I can't reach your web site by typing 'www.familyradio.com', is there another way to reach it?"
- Sometimes, computers don't recognize letter-based addresses and a numeric address must be used. this is very rare, but it does happen on occasion. the other address a computer can use is numerical in value. if you wish to try the numerical method, Family Radio's address is: 206.117.85.188Q: "What is the difference between your 'Graphical' and 'Text-based' web sites?"
- The main difference between Family Radio's 'Graphical' and 'Text-based' web site is the type of language each uses. the 'graphical' site uses a language called 'flash', which places a heavy emphasis on artistic content (graphics and animation). the 'Text-based' site is simply text only authored in 'html', the basic dialect of the Internet. this method uses mostly text and symbols. the Graphical web site is best accessed with at least a 56k(modem) or higher connection and browsers which utilize 'Flash' plug-insall later browsers i.e.:
Internet Explorer 5.1
Netscape 7.01
WebTV
I-opener
and newer, now come equipped with the flash plug-in. the 'text-based' site is designed for users with slower computers and slower connections to the Internet. neither is better than the other, but the 'Text-based' site is more universal and likely available to everyone around the world.
